56. I Don't Belong
To have no name means you don't exist
With no one to turn to you must persist
They treat you badly and they think you're scum
You're not forgotten your time will come
Have you ever thought about what Life would be like, if you had no name?
Put simply, you wouldn’t exist in society, to a big degree. By that I mean you wouldn’t be officially recognised on the government system, or grid. You wouldn’t have a national insurance number, national health number or be entitled to any government assistance regarding social care. Another thing that would make you invisible, would be social interaction regarding If you had any children. They wouldn’t be allowed to go to school, make friends with children their own age and thus wouldn’t learn how to build and form meaningful relationships before adulthood.
Where and how you would live would also be a problem. Without a name you wouldn’t be allowed to rent or buy a house, because in the first place, you wouldn’t have a formal address to access and communicate from. But saying all this, there are still people who manage to live off the grid and away from human society, mainly in remote rural areas. Overall, in my opinion, I don’t think the mainstay of society would recognise or wish to recognise people who chose to live in this way.
They would rather label such people with this saying. If you’re not with us, you’re against us!
